The Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans HeartSong Performing
Artists Fund has been created to financially assist professionals
in the New Orleans entertainment industry; performers whose lives
are at a complete stand-still in the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s
devastation. 80% of the ticket proceeds will be paid into this special,
dedicated fund being set up by the Contemporary Art Center in New
Orleans. The CAC, with a $2 million annual operating budget, is
a nationally respected 501(c)3 not-for-profit multidisciplinary
arts organization housed in its own historical building in the Warehouse/Arts
District of Downtown New Orleans. Over its 30 years in existence,
the CAC has handled grants, produced works, housed collections and
performances for the drama, musical theater, dance, jazz, new classical
music and visual arts community of New Orleans, as well as presenting
works by Regional and National artists in all these genres
The Andy Kruzich / HeartSong Animal Welfare Fund of the Greater
New Orleans Foundation will aid organizations that are currently
helping with the rescue and housing of abandoned pets. The Andy
Kruzich Fund is an endowed fund set up by a New Orleans theater
producer to honor his partner who loved animals. The Greater New
Orleans Foundation, a 501(c)3 pubic charity, is the largest and
most respected trustee organization for various endowed arts, humanity,
and medical funds originated in New Orleans. 20% of the ticket proceeds
will be donated to the fund for re-granted to qualifying animal
protection and care organizations that are helping New Orleans animal
victims.
Awarding of funds, once they are in the possession of the two primary
not-for-profit trustees, the CAC and GNOF, will be overseen by a
small committee of volunteer producers, theater owners, and managers
who work within the New Orleans theater community. Only individuals
will be eligible for artist’s proceeds. All financial records
will be overseen within the guidelines of the trustee organizations
to protect the integrity of the funds.
The Cabaret Conference At Yale University (Cabaret Conference,
Inc.), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization, was founded in
2003, and is being developed in conjunction with the Yale School
of Drama/Yale Repertory Theater. This year’s conference will
be held July 28 – August 6, 2006 on the Yale University campus,
New Haven, Connecticut.
Lorenzo’s Cabaret at the Hilton Garden Inn on Staten Island
is projected to open mid-February 2006. Top names in entertainment
and fine Italian cuisine.
Le Chat Noir Cabaret & Piano Bar, founded in New Orleans’s
Warehouse District in 1999 is New Orleans’s premiere venue
for theater, jazz, cabaret and other live entertainment.
